Our Japanese Shiba Inu
2008: The year began with our first Shiba Inu, Hoshi and handler on a massive learning curve and, at her third show, Llandudno Open, at only 7 months won AVNSC Puppy, AV Minor Puppy and AV Puppy Stakes before finishing the day crowning this with Best Puppy in Show.(not on Group system).
Hoshi attends both Open and Championship shows and is consistently placed. She also struts her stuff for Chelsea as she always has a constant supply of sausages which helped them win a VHC in the YKC Utility Stakes at a very windy Blackpool Championship Show.
The year ended with Hoshi having her very own collection of awards which included 2 x Best Puppy in Breed, 3 x Best Puppy AVNSC, 1 x puppy Group 4 at open shows and not forgetting 1 x Best Puppy in Breed and 1 x Reserve Best Bitch at Championship shows.
The Pinschers and their slaves are enjoying their time with this new arrival and she has already enriched our lives with her little ways and is a constant playmate for the girls.
2009: Hoshi has continued to give us lots of fun and impressed some of the judges. She has been “in the cards at championship shows and has become big sister to our new puppy Mieko who arrived in October.
2010: Mieko started her show career winning to Puppy Group 2 and Adult Group 2 at her first Open show in Liverpool. She won Best Puppy Bitch at Bath Championship show and then at eleven months won 2 Green Stars on the Irish Circuit at Limerick and Killarney Championship shows.
When we first started showing Shibas we were told they were very “Moorish and they certainly are, so much so that we now have Jiltrain Gingerbread Man (Ginger) thanks to Trevor and the late Gill Rodgers who also bred Mieko. All three are now on the rollercoaster toward the future and we continue to be their slaves whilst enjoying the ride!
2011: CRUFTS
What a day. First our Ginger wins his class and then goes on to get his second CC and then Mieko wins her class and gets her first CC at only 18 months. Fortunately Chelsea was at hand in the run off for Best of Breed which ultimately went to Ginger where he was shortlisted in the Utility Group.
This was a day not to be forgotten as after 13 years exhibiting at Crufts this was undoubtedly our best day yet.
As the year continued Mieko achieved her Show Certificate of Merit and a further two Green Stars in Ireland at Kilarney and Clonmel and Ginger won BOB and his first Green Star at Kilarney. After two reserve CCs at WELKS and Darlington Mieko won her second CC at Midland Counties where our Ginger won his third CC making him up to be our first Champion!
